Talent develops in solitude, character develops in the stream of life.
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Goethe points out that we not only need times of stillness and solitude to hone and develop our craft, but we also need to be tested to build our character. Is your life structured so that you have opportunities to be still as well as opportunities to face difficulty with alacrity?

Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)

And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)
