The price of discipline costs far less than the pain of regret.

Wayne Corderio writes in The Divine Mentor that we have two teachers: wisdom and consequences. Wisdom teaches you the lesson before you make a mistake and consequences demands that you first make the mistake. Each of these teachers involves a price. Wisdom has the price on the front end – discipline, consistency, and obedience; whereas consequences has the price at the back end – regret, shattered dreams, and missed opportunities. Jim Rohn describes the difference this way, “The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.” Let embrace discipline that we may avoid regret,

The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, but the naive go on, and are punished for it. (Proverbs 22:3)
