Plato’s statement may make us wonder, “Why are men afraid of the light?” Jesus revealed the reason is because men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. The truth is that when we learn to love the Light of the world (Jesus), then we no longer fear the darkness either.

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (John 8:12)
