Don’t seek for everything to happen as you wish it would, but rather wish that everything happens as it actually will — then your life will be serene.
Epictetus

The Stoic philosopher Epictetus has provided a helpful prescription to keep you from becoming frustrated. When we reflect on God’s sovereignty, we realize that this statement is true. You must realize that what you want and what you get are not always the same.

Alexander Pope reminds us,  “Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.” I have discovered that I can be my own worst enemy. If you can learn to stop expecting the impossible, in yourself and others, you may find peace and serenity. Remember that God is in control,

The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)
