The challenge is urgent; the task is difficult; the time is now.
Victor Hugo
Victor Hugo combines two contradictory concepts in this statement. We find that we may have a tendency to put off the difficult tasks, but he challenges us that the time to do them is now. Jesus presents a sense of urgency to His disciples as He emphasizes that they must carry out God’s work while it is day. Likewise, we must carry out God’s work while we have the opportunity.
We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work. (John 9:4)
