Conversation enriches the understanding, but solitude is the school of genius.
Edward Gibbon

Gibbon recognized our need for discussion, but also our need for solitude. If solitude is the school of genius, then what are the deleterious effects of our noisy and busy world? Solitude provides the strength we need to meet the demands of a busy world. Jesus modeled for us our need for solitude from our busy and demanding world:

In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. (Mark 1:35)
