We finished our Breakthrough sermon series today and learned how we can have victory over our struggle with sin. We do not need to remain in the struggle of Romans 7, but we can experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit as depicted in Romans 8.

1. To live life to the full, start trusting in His strength instead of trying in your own strength.
2. The most godly people do not have a cavalier attitude about their sin.
3. The answer to overcoming your struggle with sin is a person, not your performance.
4. If we fail to realize the seriousness of sin, then we think we can overcome sin in the power of our strength.
5. We have two pathways before us, pleasing God or trusting God.
6. Pleasing God leads to the room of good intentions. It is entered through self effort and I am striving to be all God wants me to be.
7. Trusting God leads to the room of grace. It is entered by humility and I am living out of who God says I am.
8. Christians have two unchanging realities: 1. We will always have sin issues. 2. We will always have our identity in Christ.
9. God’s Spirit is available, but it’s not automatic.
10. Romans 7 pictures anyone trying to live the Christian life apart from the enabling grace of God’s Holy Spirit.
