How many people do you know can make that statement? Can you make that statement? One of my hobbies is studying leadership and one of the great leaders of the 20th century is Winston Churchill. Churchill said this,
There comes a special moment in everyone’s life, a moment for which that person was born. That special opportunity, when he seizes it, will fulfill his mission – a mission for which he is uniquely qualified. In that moment, he finds greatness. It is his finest hour.
The Apostle Paul also emphasizes that you were born for a purpose,
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)
You are God’s workmanship, His masterpiece, and He has a special work for you. The first step is knowing what God is calling you to do. This may take some time in solitude and reflection to hear His voice. But after you start to gain a vision of His purpose for your life what happens next?
What a tragedy it is when your unique opportunity arises and you are unprepared for what could have been your finest hour. Benjamin Disraeli said, “The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.” When’s the best time to start – right now!
In Winston Churchill’s classic volume on the history preceding World War Two, The Gathering Storm, he wrote, “I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and this trial.”
What is the special work God has for you? What can you do to prepare yourself for that work? Don’t miss your date with destiny – start now!
