When you focus on what you lack, you lose what you have.
Greg McKeown

McKeown points out that the corollary to this statement is also true; when you focus on what you have, you get what you lack. I recently read Effortless: Make It Easier to Do What Matters Most by Greg McKeown. This book is a companion to his prior work, Essentialism. McKeown asserts that essentialism is about doing the right things and the concept of effortless is about doing them in the right way.

There are a number of challenges that conspire to keep us burdened with effort. Jesus however, came that you may experience rest:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
