You-were-born-for-this

“You Were Born for This” by Bruce Wilkinson lives up to its title.  Inspirational and practical it is filled with stories how God uses ordinary people to be His divine messengers.  Wilkinson asserts “. . . you were born to live a supernatural life doing God’s work by God’s power.  You were born to walk out your door each morning believing that God will use you to deliver a necessary miracle today.” (p 8)  The word “miracle” may frighten some people but the author does a good job presenting a biblically accurate description of a miracle.  He states, “. . . between the dazzle of Signs and Wonders and the duty of Good Deeds lies a broad and promising middle ground.” (p 9)  This middle ground he describes as the everyday miracle territory.

Wilkinson describes five steps involved in delivering miracles to others:

            1.  Identify the person

            2.  Isolate the need

            3.  Open the heart

            4.  Deliver the miracle

            5.  Transfer the credit

“You’ll see that the five-step pattern brings together all the big ideas you’ve learned so far:  now you are a sent person (Master Key) who shares God’s heart for people (People Key) and who intentionally partners with the Spirit to do God’s work (Spirit Key) through acts of proactive dependence on Him (Risk Key) in delivering His miracle to others.” (p. 133)

The stories in this book illustrate how the principles operate in everyday life.  Just this morning I had the privilege of delivering a dream miracle to someone I see how an infrequent basis – it was fun!  Wilkinson provides a roadmap for helping you to be intentional in practicing the “one another’s” of the New Testament.  It’s an inspirational book and I highly recommend it.  For more information see their website:  http://youwerebornforthis.com/.  (I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review).
