As war is raging in the Middle East and as America is facing a fiscal cliff, you may not have realized the ground breaking news that we are facing the end of an era. The Hostess company has announced that they are filing for bankruptcy. The 83 year old company that makes Twinkies and Ding-Dongs is going out of business.
The company offered an 8% pay reduction so the company could stay in business but it was soundly rejected by the workers. Now 18,500 workers will lose their jobs and rather than having an 8% reduction they will have a 100% reduction in pay. I don’t think this worked out well for their workers. Perhaps it was a Pyrrhic victory for the workers but was it worth it?
On a serious note we need to pray for our elected officials – that they may have Godly wisdom concerning our fiscal situation and we need to pray that the Prince of peace may reign in the Middle East. And a word to the wise – stock up on your Twinkies and Ding-Dongs while there is still time.
How many Twinkies and Ding-Dongs will you be buying?
