We looked at Psalm 145 today and this is one of the last Psalms attributed to David. This is an acrostic Psalm in which we move into the rarefied air of heaven and gain an accurate view of God. Our worship team did a great job capturing the heart of this Psalm – it’s a Psalm of pure praise.
- We may have an image of God that is not only inaccurate, but it’s inadequate.
- In one of his letters to Erasmus, Martin Luther challenged Erasmus’ view of God, “Your thoughts of God are too human.”
- “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” A.W. Tozer
- “Without a deep knowledge of God there is no knowledge of self and without a deep knowledge of self there is no knowledge of God.” John Calvin
- The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. – Psalm 145:8
- “Their prison is only in their own minds” (Aslan, The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis)
- “The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.” John Milton, Paradise Lost
- God is great, there is nothing too difficult for Him.
- God is good, and His way is best, remember that what happens to you is happening for you.
- God cares for you and He will allow you to go through hardship to make you stronger.
