It is in the desert of Sinai that you find the mountain of God.

The Israelites had escaped Egypt and were now in the desert. The desert can be an inhospitable place and the fledgling nation was facing a number of challenges. It was in the desert at Mount Sinai that God appeared to Moses. At times you may feel like you’re in the desert – don’t lose hope, the wilderness can be your place of greatest instruction. Keep your eyes open and look for God in your wilderness.

Thus the LORD spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt,  (Numbers 9:1)
