For of all sad words of tongue or pen the saddest are these: it might have been.
John Greenleaf Whittier
This quotation is from Whittier’s poem entitled “Maud Muller”. The heroine, Maud Muller, meets a judge from the local town. They each wonder what it would be like to be married to one another, but neither voices their thoughts. They marry other people; however, they reflect upon the day of their meeting and remorsefully wonder what might have been.
Don’t miss what God wants to do in your life – seize the moment and live for His glory! William Borden lived such a life and inscribed in his Bible these words, “No reserves, No retreats, No regrets.”
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going. (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
