For years I have been teaching the message of Truefaced by Bill Thrall, Bruce McNicol, and John Lynch. My prayer is that my audience will understand and experience the life-changing message of God’s grace as described in this book. The book portrays two ways of living the Christian life – one is the room of good intentions which is entered by self-effort as we work on our sin in order to achieve an intimate relationship with God – this often necessitates wearing a mask to keep up outward appearances.
The other is room is the room of grace which is entered by humility as we stand with God and trust His strength to live the Christian life. This is a room where I realize my dependence upon God and I rest in my identity in Him. I realize that the way I please God is through trusting Him,
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
I’ve recently had the privilege of sharing this message with some dear brothers and sisters in Germany and in my final session they gave me a special gift to remember them. As you can see from the picture they have grasped the Truefaced message. The room of good intentions looks quite nice but they are all wearing masks. The room of grace does not look so good but the people are smiling and are experiencing genuine, authentic relationships with one another. They got the message!
If you have not read Truefaced don’t worry, it’s been revised and has been released as The Cure. It’s a great book and you will be encouraged by its message! If you have read Truefaced I would love to hear what you thought of the book.
