All of us at times have experienced the pain and anguish of a broken heart. Where do we turn in times of overwhelming sadness? It’s a comfort to realize that God knows and understands what you’re going through. When the Israelites were in bondage in Egypt they cried out to God,
Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God. (Exodus 2:23)
Notice the verbs in the following verses. God is omniscient and He knows exactly what you’re going through,
So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God saw the sons of Israel, and God took notice of them. (Exodus 2:24-25)
It’s helpful to know that God is near and that He can bring His healing touch. May these truths encourage your heart,
God knows and cares
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
God is with you
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. Isaiah 43:2
God can give you strength
He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Isaiah 40:29
God has a future for you
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18
God can give you perseverance
Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, Romans 15:5
God can heal your heart
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3
Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1) and He can heal your broken heart when you give Him all the pieces.
