We recently had some work done on our home: lights installed, chandelier hung, faucet replaced – items I could probably do but Jeanne would like them done by Christmas (and she wants them done well). So we hired a father and son team – Herb and Jeremy who have done work for us in the past. We love having them work on our home because they do a GREAT job! It’s a family value (mom, dad, brothers, and sisters) that all they do excellent work. Whether it’s making cakes, writing plays, designing clothes, or working on a home they do AMAZING work!
Let me give you an example – we had some under-the-counter lights installed. When I opened the cupboard to see where the wires went it was amazing! Jeremy had cut a groove into the wood so the wires were flush with the surface and then neatly tied off – this is the part you don’t see! Yet God sees it and it was done with excellence! Jesus taught, “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; (Luke 16:10a). I can trust them with the big things because they are faithful in the little things.
When I think of Herb and Jeremy I’m reminded of Proverbs 22:29, “Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men.” Now you may not be skilled in home repair (as I am not) but what is the work you do that you can demonstrate great skill? As the apostle Paul said, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men” (Col 3:23). May your work be done with great skill as unto the Lord!
