The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.
St. Augustine
As a child I rarely traveled from upstate New York – all of that changed when I joined the Navy. My eyes were opened to the vast diversity of the world. After the Navy I worked at Columbia International University and had the opportunity to regularly visit many foreign countries. I have discovered St. Augustine’s words to be true. Travel is not always easy, but it’s a great teacher. You may be reluctant to leave your comfort zone but you do not grow when you stay in your comfort zone – growth occurs when you step out of your comfort zone. You do not discover new oceans unless you’re willing to lose sight of the shore.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
