God has made man in His image and unfortunately men have been returning the favor by fashioning a god according to their preferences. We may not understand why the God of the Bible acts as He does, but our finite understanding does not negate His infinite wisdom. The prophet Isaiah explained the difference:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
