Our danger is to water down God’s word to suit ourselves. God never fits His word to suit me; He fits me to suit His word.

Obedience to God’s word may seem difficult at times – God sets the standard high. If God is going to take you to places that you’ve never been, then you need to be prepared by being transformed through His word. Oswald Chambers reveals the reason why we can carry out God’s demands: 

“Once we realize that it is through the salvation of Jesus Christ that we are made perfectly fit for the purpose of God, we will understand why Jesus Christ is so strict and relentless in His demands. He demands absolute righteousness from His servants, because He has put into them the very nature of God.” (My Utmost for His Highest, 21 September)

Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2)
