There are times in which it can be difficult to discern the truth. Every day I receive political advertisements demonizing their political opponent. Which one is true? We must exercise discernment and be diligent to seek out the truth for our freedom depends upon knowing the truth:

and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. (John 8:32)
