Pray as if everything depends on God, and work as if everything depends on you. – Augustine
Many people work as if everything depended upon their efforts, but how many of us consider God in our endeavors? You can expect God to intervene if you’re willing to intercede. We must realize the power of fervent intercession to dispel anxious care. Mary, Queen of Scots, knew the power of fervent prayer as she exclaimed, “I fear John Knox’s prayers more than an army of ten thousand men.” The Apostle James reveals the power of the prayers of a righteous individual:
Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. (James 5:16)
