Is there an area in your life where you’re longing for a fresh touch?  Early in Jesus’ ministry He gained a reputation for bringing healing to many people and they eagerly sought Him.  Mark 3:10 records,

for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him.

What can we learn from this verse?  First we see that the people knew where to go – they realized that Jesus could bring healing into their lives.  They reasoned that “He had brought restoration to others perhaps He can help me.”  Where are you looking for healing or completeness?  The country song “Looking for love” laments,

I was looking for love in all the wrong places looking for love in too many faces
Searching your eyes, looking for traces of what I’m dreaming of…
Hopin’ to find a friend and a lover, God bless the day I discover another heart, lookin’ for love

Secondly, we see these people realized the need in their lives, they had an affliction.  The reality is all of have an affliction – a terminal disease called sin.  My goodness is not sufficient to overcome it, only the righteousness of Jesus is able to overcome my affliction.  The apostle Paul makes an amazing statement in 2 Corinthians 5:21:

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Think of that – I can be righteous before God because of what Jesus has done, I am no longer burdened by the weight of my sin!  How do I experience this sense of freedom?  I need to reach out to Jesus!  Have you discovered the healing power of His touch?

Jesus touched a leper and he was restored.  Jesus touched Peter’s mother-in-law and she was healed, The woman who had a hemorrhage touched the fringe of Jesus’ garment and she was healed.  How about you?  Do you need a fresh touch from the Master?  Meister Eckhart wrote that, “The reason we are not able to see God is the faintness of our desire.”  Reach out to Him and experience His touch in your life.  May the prayer of your heart be God’s will, nothing more, nothing less, nothing else!
