HopeA cursory glance of the headlines can cause despair:  threats of terrorism, financial uncertainty, rumors of war, and the day to day struggles of everyday life.  With the many challenges in this world we can lose perspective.  Perhaps you feel like the disciples that Friday evening in which Jesus was crucified.  Your hopes and dreams are gone, the direction you were going is radically changed, and you’ve lost your friend and teacher.  That was Friday . . . but they didn’t understand that Sunday was coming.  The Apostle Peter gives us this encouraging perspective in his epistle,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (1 Peter 1:3)

The resurrection of Jesus enables you to be born again to a living hope through God’s great mercy.  Eternal life commences when you are born again – your destiny is secure.  Death and Satan have been conquered at the cross!  You do not need to be in bondage to a spirit of fear but you can walk in victory!  The Apostle Paul writes,

But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. (1 Corinthians 15:54)

God enables you to live above your circumstances because He has given you the victory through Jesus Christ.  You may find this video clip entitled It’s Friday but Sunday’s Coming encouraging as you face the challenges of Friday but remember that Sunday’s coming!
