We are not responsible for the circumstances we are in, but we are responsible for the way we allow those circumstances to affect us; we can either allow them to get on top of us, or we can allow them to transform us into what God wants us to be.
Oswald Chambers
Many people have have a tendency to bemoan their circumstances and become a victim of their circumstances. You may not be able to change your situation, but you can control your response. You must realize that God is allowing circumstances in your life to develop your character. That’s why the Apostle Paul could rejoice in his difficulties:
And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)
