“Life is difficult.”  These are the opening words of M. Scott Peck’s book The Road Less Traveled.  He goes on to write, “It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it.  Once we truly know that life is difficult – once we truly understand and accept it – then life is no longer difficult.  Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.” (Peck p. 15)

Why do so many people lack peace?  Why do so many Christians lack peace?  A prior blog post describes how you can develop peace and overcome anxiety and it starts when you invest time with God.  This is Jesus’ desire for His followers,

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.  (John 14:27)

Notice that it is His peace – not the world’s type of peace.  The world may attempt to find peace by masking over problems with escapism, drugs, or entertainment but Jesus gets to the root of the problem.  Your heart does not need to be troubled or fearful but you can experience the rest of God.

Are you facing some burdens in your life?  Take some time with to be with God – you can cast “all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
