How do you handle difficulties when they seem beyond your ability? When we look at our resources and the magnitude of the problems we’re facing, they may seem overwhelming. There are numerous situations that seem beyond our ability but we must realize there is a resource greater ourselves. The Apostle Paul reveals that we are not alone,

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Those three words, “God is able”, help you to see that whatever you face you can have confidence.  He is able to “make all grace abound to you”. The word “abound” means to overflow, to exceed, to be more than enough. God is able to make His grace overflow in your life! But what if you’re not experiencing His overflowing grace? The problem is not with God but with us. We may be inhibiting the flow His grace in our lives. Pride is a major hindrance to the flow of His grace in our lives,

But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUDBUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.” (James 4:6)

Pride shuts off God’s grace in our lives, whereas humility opens the door for His grace to pour in. We see that God’s grace enables you to have all that you need for any situation that you encounter so that you can perform good deeds. What good deeds do you sense that God has in mind for you?

You may be holding back because you may be thinking, “Who am I to do this good work?” You may be the one whom God has selected to do the good work! Don’t be discouraged by your lack of resources. The reason it may seem overwhelming is because it’s a God-sized goal. We can do our goals in our own strength, but we feel inadequate when we have a God sized goal. You must realize however, when you combine your inadequacy with His all sufficiency then you can do all things through His strength.

If your dream doesn’t scare you then perhaps it’s too small. The size of your dream may be an indication of the size of your God. What do you sense is God’s dream for you? When you stop dreaming you start dying, but when you start dreaming then you truly start living. Remember – God is able!
