Jeanne and I had the opportunity to attend the Freedom in Christ North American Summit conducted in Canmore, Alberta, Canada. Freedom in Christ ministries exists to help people “lay aside every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles them so that they can run with endurance the race set before them, with their eyes firmly fixed on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Spiritual freedom is necessary for people to become growing, fruitful disciples. Our opening session focused on recognizing the rocks and weeds that keep us from fruitfulness. We had a video message from Neil Anderson bringing encouragement to the attendees.

Dan Studt gave a powerful message revealing how God can bring freedom from family dysfunction. We discussed the importance of care and training for those involved in front-line ministry. Rich Miller reminded us that you get what you pray and plan for and you keep what you nurture and support.

Steve Goss gave an inspirational presentation on some of the resources that the International ministry team is developing. Mark Buchanan gave an encouraging message with the following warnings:

1. We forget who we are

2. We forget why we started

3. We forget we’re not alone

Rich Miller concluded our time of worship in leading us in a time of celebrating the Lord’s Supper. A special thanks to Ken and Cindy Cyr in organizing an excellent conference.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)
