best question ever“The Best Question Ever” is the name of a book by Andy Stanley.  Your initial reaction may be that’s a rather audacious statement.  You may be thinking, “Perhaps he has a really great question but can he really make the claim that it is the best question for all time?”   He does not start with the question but lays the foundation for why he believes it is the best question ever.  The basis for this question comes from Ephesians 5:15-17,

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.  So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

From this Bible passage, what do you think is the best question?   Andy Stanley asserts that the best question is, “What is the wise thing to do?”  With practical relevance he builds a case for how that question can be beneficial in your decision making and hopefully may save you from regret.  The book is divided into six parts:  1. The basis for the question, 2. A question of time, 3. A question of money, 4. A question of morality, 5. Wisdom for the asking, 6. The best decision ever.  Now that you know the best question, I’ll leave it to you to discover the best decision ever.

This is a short book but it is filled with biblical principles.  All of us fall prey to self-deception and the guidelines in this book may keep you from making foolish decisions.  He writes, “Our greatest moral regrets are always preceded by a series of unwise choices” (p. 114).  This book will help you think through how to respond with wisdom.  (I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review).

What would you say is a great question that has helped you in your decision making?
