The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up: A Magical Story by Marie Kondo and illustrated by Yuko Uramoto is a graphic depiction of Kondo’s principles of how to get clutter under control. The story presents the fictional story of Chiaki, a young woman who struggles with a cluttered apartment, and a love life that seems to be equally as messy.

The story is engaging and filled with many of Marie Kondo’s principles for organization. Chiaki learns the KonMari Method for controlling clutter as well as learning a new way to think about what sparks joy.  Kondo not only helps Chiaki get her home in order, but also her love life.

The illustrations are well done and will appeal to manga and graphic novel afficianados. If you are familiar with Marie Kondo’s approach, you will see it starts with the proper mindset. This book presents not only a reasonable approach for controlling clutter, but also how you can experience greater joy in your life. Chiaki learns how to let go of things that held her back in the past and have the freedom not to be encumbered by clutter.

This book gives a good overview of the Kondo method with a light-hearted and humorous story leading to a possible romance for Chiaki. This is a book not only about tidying up, but it could be life-changing experience for the reader. (I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review).
