Everything You Always Wanted to Know About God (but were afraid to ask) by Eric Metaxas presents a light-hearted approach to Christian apologetics. The book is written in a question and answer format with easy to understand answers and explanations.

Metaxas tackles some of the classic questions facing Christianity such as, “Why would this supposedly good God create a world with so much evil and suffering in it?” (p. 23) and “Isn’t it ridiculously arrogant to say there is only one way to God? Or, to be more specific, to say that Jesus is the only way to God? What about all the people who have never heard about Jesus?” (p. 199). The question and answer format provides a non-threatening context that is helpful for those who may be unfamiliar with the Christian faith to learn what Christians believe.

The book does not provide detailed theological responses with biblical references, but that is not its purpose. The author provides an appendix with helpful resources if the reader wants a more detailed response. This book is a helpful resource for anyone seeking to understand what Christians believe. If the reader is a Christian it will assist you in being ready “to make a defense” for what you believe,

but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; (1 Peter 3:15)
